With speaker Aili Marjatta Kerttula

For aficionados of Northern European mythology and cultures, it often comes as a surprise that Finland does not share the same history as its Scandinavian neighbors. This class explores and contrasts four of the main figures from the Kalevala, the National Epic of Finland, with corresponding Norse-Germanic gods as well as diving into some of the basic cosmology, creation myths, and worldview of the ancient and early modern Finnic-Uralic people.
