The Boston Estonian Society is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the “The Great Flight.”

In September 1944, over 80,000 Estonians fled Soviet occupation, choosing the uncertain dangers of the Baltic Sea over exile and certain death. Their stories of survival resonate with today’s ongoing global struggles for freedom from war and oppression.
